ARGH Why do people do this?

I am dumbfounded. A lot of people in our modern society excuse their rudeness by saying "I was just trying to be helpful!". It's a symptom of some of the ills in modern society, when people think that everything is suddenly their business. I'm afraid websites exactly like this one are encouraging this type of behavior.
